Fraternity Disabled Self Help e.V.

The Fraternität has existed for over 50 years and is a community of people with physical disabilities, chronic illnesses, and people without disabilities in Frankfurt. The aim of the community is to free people with disabilities from isolation and integrate them into society.

I. Donation for Leisure Activities (Oberstdorf) / 2017

An important form of support provided by the Fraternität is the financing of leisure trips for people with disabilities, as subsidies from social welfare offices have declined significantly. However, these trips are particularly important for the participants. Through mutual support and encouragement, they can rebuild their self-confidence, which is often diminished in everyday interactions with non-disabled people.

In autumn 2017, with the help of the ERNA Foundation, a two-week trip to Oberstdorf was made possible.

II. Donation for Care Support / 2018

The Fraternität offers the supported group of people with severe disabilities various leisure and group activities that are essential for their sense of integration into society. Through these activities, participants become more active, engage in conversations with both disabled and non-disabled people, and rediscover their sense of self-worth.

Public subsidies for these activities are limited, yet the events themselves are extremely important. For this reason, it was a great concern for us to provide support in this area.

III. Donation for Leisure Activities (North Sea Island, Schiermonnikoog) / 2018

In spring 2018, the ERNA Foundation once again supported the financing of a leisure activity by covering the full travel costs for two people with disabilities. This enabled them to spend ten days on the North Sea island of Schiermonnikoog together with the Fraternität.
